I get the feeling it's probably a number of us who do... but I'm not the girl to ask for a whole communication system. Helping people learn how to use it? I don't know, was I helpful for you?
Hmm, you know, I think that's probably the case. Not that messages on phones or the earpiece aren't great, it's how you can check in on people, let them know you're thinking about them! But a written letter? You can actually hold that and keep it with you. Maybe forever.
I can probably ask around. You did a great job teaching me. I am pretty confident in using this thing, actually.
There is a certain level of affection that someone can convey in a letter that I think is more difficult to do via text. It's the personalization. Knowing someone was thinking about you and spent the time to put their thoughts into words.
Then there we go! If anyone gets a new system up and running, I can help make it easier for people to learn how to use. Score one point for tech awareness!
Yeah, you're exactly right. It just feels even more special because they wanted to write to you, and took the time to do it. Maybe that's why you still get things like love confessions in notes during school years... kind of sad people don't do the same out in the working world. Though I guess people will write notes to go with flowers? Hah, sorry, I'm getting off topic. Anyway, letters are personal! And you can choose cute stationary for them too, what's not to love about that?
I'll let you know if I find anyone who can do it. I have an idea of who I might be able to reach out to if I can find them.
If you find any cute stationary here, I'd like to see it. We just use what we have. Most of the paper we use at the Hideaway is stuff we make ourselves. It's amazing the amount of things you can reuse or repurpose.
Oh, I'm sure I will. Want me to nab some for you too when I find it? Or anyone at the monastery, feels like you'd all be the kind of people who'd appreciate some well done stationary.
( Scarcity makes reuse necessary. Kind of like how things were that first year after the Disaster... but for all his life. That echoes hollow somewhere under her breastbone. )
That would be great. Until I went to the library, I hadn't seen a nice piece of paper since I was a kid. Though the paper here is far different than what I am used to back home. It's significantly smoother here.
[Even growing up, Clive didn't do much with the official letterhead of the duchy. As soon as Joshua manifested, there wasn't much need. He wouldn't be writing official missives or sending out special invites. Any of his correspondence could be done on anything. It wasn't important as long as the message got across.]
The paper industry is one of those that evolved a lot over time in my world. Not as much these days... we do more that's not on paper, and it's kind of a shame. Things like scrapbooks used to be more popular, people who make them for all kinds of things. Celebrating a graduation, a year in their life, for an event like a birthday... huh.
( Maybe that's something for people to work on together. )
oh no everyone doing scrapbooking together would be so cute
Oh! It's a book where you put photographs and dried flowers or write notes or make paper cut-outs... it's a memory book! You can make them super cute with stamps and stuff like that. Stickers? Have you run into stickers yet?
Honestly, this would be right up Clive's alley. He loves momentos and stuff
I'll add it to my list of things I'm searching the stores to find. We can use just about anything book-like, but it's extra fun with a photo album or big blank paged journal. I'll figure it out and get you set up!
Consider it a future goal then! Maybe after this mission we're going on soon. Then we can figure out if there's anyway to print photos from our earpieces too!

Does that make receiving letters feel more special then?
[Don't mind him, just taking mental notes.]
